NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government has denied the Central Government blaming the Kejriwal Government for delaying the proposed oxygen plants, terming it an outright lie.
According to the Delhi government, however, the plants for five hospitals were delivered in early March and only one was installed by the vendor, who was unresponsive.
The State Government said that of the plants for five hospitals that were delivered in early March only one plant was able to be installed due to the irresponsibility of the vendor.
The Centre alleged that the state government failed to timely submit site readiness certificates for installing oxygen plants in four hospitals. It also claimed that the installation works of eight pressure swing absorption (PSA) oxygen generation plants, using the PM-Cares fund are underway. When the work finishes, the capacity of medical oxygen will be up by 14.4 tonnes, the Centre said.
The plant installation at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, Lok Nayak Hospital, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital Rohini, and Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital is expected to be finished by the end of April.
According to a Central Government source, the plans to install plants were designed last year and tenders were given out in October. The source also blamed the Delhi Government for the delay in submitting the site readiness certificate for these hospitals despite having weekly reviews in November last year.
