7 new Covid-19 symptoms identified

After the emergence of new Coronavirus variants that are said to have more transmission power, local health officials in Warrington, Cheshire, United Kingdom have recently listed seven new Covid-19 symptoms in addition to the main three detected in people.

Three of the most common Covid-19 symptoms are fever, persistent cough and a loss or change to smell or taste.

But the listed seven new symptoms include sore throat, muscle aches and joint pain, diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, headache, skin rash, and discolouration of fingers or toes. Some people may also experience very mild and cold-like symptoms, which could also be coronavirus.

The listing of these seven new symptoms by experts comes up in the wake of new virus strains being detected in countries like Britain, South Africa, etc. that are creating havoc and increasing infections by many folds.

Usually, the covid-19 symptoms are similar to that of allergies and the common cold. People who have any of these mild symptoms immediately conducting a test for the virus's presence in their body and isolating themselves will help reduce the transmission rates.

Thara Raj, Warrington's director of public health, said: "There have been several cases where a person who has tested positive for coronavirus in Warrington has had very mild symptoms or different symptoms to the three classic ones. These people, who got a test as soon as they started to feel unwell, helped us to stop the spread of the virus around Warrington."

The one possible solution suggested by the health officials to contain the spread is to increase testing and encourage people to go through Coronavirus tests if they doubt having any of the listed Covid-19 symptoms.
