Offline classes to resume in certain states

Several state governments have decided to reopen schools for offline classes. Schools have been closed more or less since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020.

In Delhi, schools and colleges and coaching institutes shall reopen in phases starting from September. Classes shall resume for grades 9 to 12 and colleges in the first phase on September 1. Classes for students of grades 6 to 8 shall resume from September 8. However, students won't be forced to attend classes or considered absent, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia informed.

In Tamil Nadu, schools shall reopen from September 1 for classes 9-12 with 50 per cent attendance. Sections will be split into batches with not more than 20 students per classroom. In case of unavailability of sufficient classrooms, students shall be asked to attend schools on a rotational basis. Online learning will continue as an alternate mode of learning.

In Assam, colleges and universities have been allowed to resume physical classes from the first week of September for students from class 11 to postgraduate level.

In Madhya Pradesh, all government and private schools will reopen from September 1 for classes 6 to 12. Students shall require parental consent.

In Uttar Pradesh, classes have already resumed for students of Classes 9 to 12. The government has now decided to resume offline classes for grades 1 to 8 as well. While classes shall resume for students from grades 6-8 on September 23, those for classes 1-5 shall start from September 1.

In Rajasthan, classes shall resume for students of universities, colleges, coaching institutes, and classes 9 to 12, from September 1. Each session shall have only fifty per cent of students.
