GATE postponed due to surge of Covid cases

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) admit cards, which were expected to be available on Friday, have been postponed, and the exam dates have been listed as tentative on the website so they may be delayed.

Exams for GATE 2022 were originally set for February 5, 6, 12, and 13.

IIT-Kharagpur has issued a notification stating that the aforementioned dates are tentative, which practically indicates that the exam would be postponed due to the surge in Coronavirus infections.

Earlier the GATE 2022 admit cards were scheduled to be issued on January 4, but the date was later extended to January 7. As of today, the website declined the admit card download process and the announcement regarding the new dates is yet to be announced.

The GATE exam is required for candidates to be considered for recruitment in PSUs.

Generally, PSUs recruit either through an interview or a test. Some recruit based on the marks scored in GATE exams.

Candidates had until November 18 to fix errors on their application forms.

There are now 29 papers in the GATES exam this year, following the addition of two new papers -- Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and Geometric Engineering.
