‘Nithin killed himself after a teacher decided to approach cyber cell’

Kannur: The management of Anjarakandi Dental College has issued a detailed clarification following the suicide of BDS student Nithin Raj, rejecting allegations of institutional involvement and asserting that false narratives are being circulated through the media.

According to the college’s claims, the incident was linked to a dispute involving a loan taken through a mobile app. Authorities stated that a faculty member began receiving repeated calls and messages related to the loan after her name was allegedly listed as a reference. Nithin was called to the principal’s office to address the issue. He reportedly told the college officials that the loan had been taken out for his brother-in-law. However, when the principal attempted to contact said brother-in-law over the phone, there was no response, according to the college.

Also, Nithin denied adding the teacher’s name as a reference, it said. As the faculty member prepared to approach the cyber cell, Nithin left the room and later jumped from a college building, the college claimed.

The institution maintains that no complaint had been filed by Nithin against any staff member or the college prior to his death and insists that neither the administration nor the faculty played any role in the incident. It also dismissed allegations of caste discrimination as baseless and released CCTV visuals showing Nithin’s last visit to the principal’s office.

However, Nithin Raj’s family has strongly rejected the college’s version. They allege that the loan app angle is being used to deflect responsibility and maintain that caste-based harassment had taken place. The conflicting accounts have intensified the controversy surrounding the student’s death, with serious questions being raised over the circumstances leading up to the incident.
