Kochi: A Kerala man who returned from work in Switzerland after five years gave his aging mother a memorable day.
Rojan Parambil was upset at seeing his mother unable to stand or walk, next thing he did was to cheer her up, giving a new lease life to her.
A footage on Instagram showed Rojan Parambil lifting up his mother clad in sari, setting her in the car before driving her around.
‘It broke my heart to see Ammachi. She looked much older- more white hair than ever, and weaker. She couldn’t stand or walk properly. She told me that she hadn’t even gone to church for years! I decided to take her out,’ The Indian Express quoted him as saying.
After bathing her and had her clad new sari, the man lifted her up on his shoulder to set her in the car for a ride.
The video showed the mother and clicking selfies and moving through an esplanade lined with bloomed ‘Neelakurinji’.
Parambil had previously taken his mother to Switzerland showing her around places in Europe.
He couldn’t returned to Kerala for the past five years following the pandemic.
Having worked at an old age home in Switzerland meant he knew how to take care of elderly people: he bathed her and his sister had her draped in sari.
Afterwards they set out on 20 km journey to her hometown in Athirampuzha.
The elderly woman couldn’t recall places but was still happy to go places.
‘I took videos to send to my siblings living in different places around the world. They were all worried for Ammachi but still happy to see her up and about. I had also once taken her to witness the ‘Neelakurinji’ bloom. She was tired and sick after the journey but was elated to have finally witnessed what she had always wished for,’ the man related his experience.
