Kannur: Director of the upcoming Malayalam film Padavettu, Liju Krishna, was arrested in Kannur, Kerala, on Sunday, March 6, on charges of rape.
In a criminal complaint filed at the Kakkanad Infopark police station, the young woman who assisted him with aspects of the film has accused him of trying to use her position to harm him.
In Padavettu, Liju Krishna makes his debut as a director. He also wrote the screenplay.
The film stars Manju Warrier, Aditi Balan and Nivin Pauly in the lead roles and is produced by Sunny Wayne.
Padavettu was in the process of shooting in Kannur, Liju's hometown, when he was arrested. Filming has been halted. Padavettu had been scheduled to release this year.
