Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar lashed out at journalists. He spoke angrily to a female journalist who raised a question regarding the suicide of BJP councillor Tirumala Anil.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar had posted on Facebook that he had met and spoken to Anil two days before his suicide. It was the question related to this that angered the BJP president. Rajeev Chandrasekhar asked the woman journo if she was ashamed to raise the question about a dead person. He claimed that “the truth” will come out in the coming days, and Anil will get justice.
He then claimed that the ruling CPI(M) was accused of certain tactics. He claimed that the state BJP was with Anil during his hard times.
Lashing out at the woman journo, Chandrasekhar said, ‘Who told you that? Tell me, which channel are you from? Enough, don’t ask, you should not ask. I will not answer. It is a councillor who committed suicide. You should not spread lies like this. You are a lying channel. A shameless channel. Don’t you have any shame in saying this about a dead person?’ - said Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
Party workers had assaulted journalists who had come to report on the suicide. The BJP workers assaulted the newspaper and channel reporters, pushed them down from the steps of the building and destroyed their cameras. However, BJP District President Karamana Jayan clarified that the assault on the journalists was not with the knowledge of the party and that it would be investigated.
