NIA arrests PFI Kerala State Secretary CA Rauf on Thursday

New Delhi: National Investigation Agency arrested the former Kerala state secretary of banned PFI (Popular Front of India), CA Rauf, on Thursday night from his residence in Palakkad's Pattambi. The arrests were made in relation to a terror case, IANS reported.

The case is related to the PFI, its office bearers, members and affiliates in Kerala, who were alleged to be conspiring to indulge in unlawful activities, such as creating enmity between members of different religions and groups, and carrying out activities, harming the communal harmony with the intention to disrupt public peace and tranquillity and cause disaffection against India.

An official said, "They have also been found propagating alternative justice delivery systems justifying the use of criminal force resulting in alarm and fear amongst the people, encouraging vulnerable youth to join terrorist organisations, including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)/Daesh and Al-Qaida and the conspiracy to establish Islamic rule in India by committing terrorist acts as a part of violent jihad."

Rauf was the PFI State Secretary in Kerala and handled media and PR wings there. He is alleged to be one of the prime conspirators in the instant case.

More investigations are underway.
