Kozhikode: Relatives and friends of a woman doctor who was found dead on Wednesday at her friend’s apartment in Kozhikode are unhappy over the way in which the regional media portrayed the incident.
Even as the death of Thansiya, who was pursuing post-graduation at the Malabar Medical College in Kozhikode, emerged some Malayalam news portals flashed headlines reading “Woman doctor found dead at her friend’s house”, according to the News Minute.
Thansiya had gone to stay at her friend’s apartment on Tuesday evening where she was found dead later.
A native of Wayanad, Thansiya was undergoing treatment for epilepsy and the exact cause of the death can be ascertained only after the postmortem is out, police reportedly said.
Aneesha Basheer, Thansiya’s cousin, in her Facebook post, said reporting of the death by some online portals and TV channels hurt the family more than Thansiya’s death.
Aneesha also added that some of the comments to the report were even more hurtful as people judged the incident based on the headlines.
“ What do news channels gain from ruining the reputation of a person with just one single news report,” Aneesha reportedly asked.
