Kochi: The High Court will consider activist Rahul Easwar's plea seeking anticipatory bail on Monday in the complaint filed by actress Honey Rose, accusing him of making derogatory remarks about the actress in channel discussions.
A Thrissur native had also filed a complaint with the Ernakulam Police against Easwar on the same issue.
Rahul Easwar's argument in the bail application is that he did not abuse Honey Rose but only gave advice on her clothing choices. He also said that he did not speak on media about anything that led to the cyber attack the actress had faced.
On Saturday, Honey Rose came up with a post accusing Rahul of orchestrating a cybercrime to trivialize the seriousness of her recent sexual harassment complaint. She added that she and her family are going through severe mental stress after his actions prompted online abuse. Following this, she complained to the police.
Honey Rose’s January 11 social media post read, “Rahul Easwar, My family and I are going through a lot of mental stress. You are one of the main reasons for that. I filed a complaint against the blatant abuse that was committed against me on a public platform. The police found my complaint to be valid and registered a case, and the court remanded the person I filed the complaint against. All I have to do is file the complaint. The rest is up to the government, police, and court. Rahul Easwar is planning an organized crime in cyberspace with the intention of distorting the seriousness of the complaint I filed and turning the public consciousness against me.”
She continued, "Indian Constitution: Guarantees the right to make choices about one's attire. Indian Constitution: Protects an individual's right to privacy and personal autonomy, which encompasses the right to choose what to wear. Indian Penal Code (IPC): Doesn't have any specific provisions restricting or regulating clothing choices."
