Hadiya, the 32-year-old homoeopathy doctor, has once again found herself in the media spotlight following her father, Asokan KM, filing a habeas corpus petition in the Kerala High Court, claiming that she was missing.
However, Hadiya, who had been in constant communication with her parents until the filing of the petition, asserts that she has always been accessible and available to them.
Hadiya alleges that her father's recent behaviour can be attributed to his unwitting involvement with Sangh Parivar groups, accusing them of manipulating him into taking legal action.
She contended that her father, who was initially loving and caring, changed after divulging information about her second marriage, leading to the exploitation of the situation by external forces.
According to Hadiya, for about 20 days after learning about her second marriage, everything was fine. She remained in constant contact with special branch officers, and even her in-laws interacted with the police. Her father claims to have learned about the marriage through the police, and it was only after this period that Sangh Parivar groups allegedly began to exploit the situation.
Expressing her desire for a peaceful life, Hadiya emphasizes that her choices, including her remarriage, should not be scrutinized in society. She laments the constant public scrutiny and the challenges she faces in changing her parents' attitudes towards her decisions.
Hadiya, who converted to Islam during her medical studies in 2016 and faced a sensational case after her marriage to Shafin Jahan, hopes that the media can help convey that she is safe and living an independent life of her choice.
Despite her dislike for speaking to the media, she sees it as a necessary step to address the current situation and eliminate the need for repetitive reassurances.
In a society where marriages and remarriages are commonplace, Hadiya raises the question of why her choices should be considered an issue. Her primary desire is for her parents to understand and support her decisions, emphasizing that their presence is what truly matters to her.
