Kochi: M Sivasankar IAS, one of the accused in the high profile gold smuggling case, has approached the Kerala High Court seeking bail.
The former Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on October 28 for allegedly helping Swapna Suresh, the prime accused in the case.
The Special PMLA Court at Kochi had dismissed a bail plea observing that it was too early to record that there are reasonable grounds to believe that he is not guilty.
The applicant has submitted in the plea before the High Court that the Special Court's denial of bail was based on a purported statement given by Swapna Suresh and that in none of the previous eight statements given by Swapna, he was implicated.
