ED conducts new raids in Kerala in money laundering probe related to CMRL case

As a part of its money-laundering investigation into the CMRL case, which also involves transactions linked to former chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter, Veena Vijayan, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday carried out fresh searches at multiple locations in Kerala.

Officials said the agency was conducting searches at eight locations under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), according to media reports.

The ED is examining allegations that Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) made payments totalling ₹2.78 crore to Veena Vijayan’s now-defunct company, Exalogic Solutions, purportedly for IT consultancy services.

The agency had earlier searched premises linked to Veena in June and subsequently questioned her as part of the investigation.

The probe is primarily focused on the alleged financial transactions between CMRL and Exalogic Solutions.
