Thiruvananthapuram: Senior officials from the Election Commission of India are set to visit Kerala on Sunday and Monday to review how prepared the state machinery is for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Kerala’s Chief Electoral Officer, Rathan U Kelkar, said the visiting team would assess election preparedness at multiple levels and hold interactions with senior officials in the state administration.
He also indicated that a separate visit by the Election Commissioners themselves was being planned, though the dates were yet to be finalised, TNIE reported.
The final voters’ list for the Assembly polls was published on Saturday, containing the names of around 2.69 crore electors. Officials said the rolls would be made available at the offices of electoral registration officers and assistant electoral registration officers, and that the complete list could also be accessed through the Chief Electoral Officer’s website.
Under the election rules, applicants whose requests for inclusion in the electoral roll have been rejected can appeal to the District Election Officer, who is the district collector, within 15 days of the rejection.
If still dissatisfied, they have the option of approaching the Chief Electoral Officer within 30 days of the district authority’s decision.
