The draft list for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Kerala was published today at 3 pm, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer has announced. The office clarified that the voter list previously circulating was not the official SIR draft list.
As part of the SIR, enumeration forms were distributed to around 2.78 crore voters included in Kerala’s October 2025 electoral roll. Of these, about 2.54 crore people have returned their completed forms so far. According to the Election Commission, nearly 24 lakh voters could not be traced during the enumeration process. Booth-wise lists of such voters have already been prepared, and the draft list will therefore contain 2.54 crore names.
Objections and complaints regarding the draft electoral roll can be submitted starting Tuesday, and the process will continue until January 22. Individuals whose names are missing from the draft list because they could not be traced during enumeration can submit a declaration along with Form 6 to seek inclusion under the SIR. Those who submitted forms with incomplete or incorrect details may receive notices from the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO).
People whose names, or whose parents’ or grandparents’ names, appeared in the 2002 electoral roll will not be required to submit identity documents again. Others will have to provide proof of identity. Notices and hearings related to inclusion or deletion will be conducted by the EROs of the respective assembly constituencies.
If a person’s name is removed after the ERO’s hearing, an appeal can be filed before the District Election Officer, who is also the District Collector, within 15 days. If required, a second appeal may be filed before the Chief Electoral Officer within 30 days of the ERO’s decision. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on February 21, 2026.
