‘Didn’t trust this court’: Kerala actor assault case survivor expresses disappointment in verdict

Kochi: Following the verdict and sentence of convicts in the 2017 actor assault case by the Principal Sessions Court in Ernakulam, the survivor broke her silence, expressing her disappointment in the ruling. In her first public response after the court ruling, she strongly criticized the court, which sentenced six convicts but acquitted actor Dileep. The survivor said that she didn’t trust the court from the beginning, according to her post on Instagram.

She said that her fundamental rights were not protected by the court.

She said in her detailed post that she expressed her lack of faith in the sessions court and approached the Kerala High Court and Supreme Court in this regard, requesting the case to be transferred or moved away from the same judge; her pleas were dismissed.

“Over the years, I approached the High Court and the Supreme Court multiple times, clearly stating that I did not trust this court. Every request to move this case away from the same judge was dismissed,” the survivor wrote.

She said, “After years of pain, tears, and emotional struggle, I have come to a painful realisation: 'NOT EVERY CITIZEN IN THIS COUNTRY IS TREATED EQUALLY BEFORE THE LAW'.

She said, This verdict may surprise many people, but it did not surprise me. As early as 2020, I began to feel that something was not right. Even the prosecution noticed changes in the way the case was being handled, especially when it came to one particular accused.”

She reiterated that the claim that the accused number one was her personal driver is false. She said that that person was not her employee or even someone she knew.
