Covid-19: Kerala reports 292 cases, 3 deaths in a day

Thiruvananthapuram: On Tuesday, Kerala reported 292 new active cases of COVID-19 and three deaths, Mint reported, citing the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

This has taken the total number of active cases in the state to 2,041 and the total death from the disease since its outbreak three years ago to 72,056.

On the day, Health Minister Veena George said that there is nothing there to be concerned about the state, though the number of cases is rising. The state is well prepared to handle the virus, she added.

She further said that directions have been given to provide special facilities for Covid-19 patients, including isolation wards, rooms, oxygen beds, ICU beds and ventilators in hospitals.

On Wednesday, Karnataka reported 79 fresh Covid-19 cases, which is 35 more than the number reported on Tuesday. The Karnataka Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) have issued advisory that people aged over 6o, particularly those with co-morbidities, must wear protective masks. Also, pregnant women lactating mothers also must wear masks, amd all the mentioned groups must avoid poorly ventilated closed spaces, the advisory states.

There were 341 new cases of the disease reported in the whole country till 8 am on Wednesday. Those who were cured, discharged or migrated 24 hours past 8 am stood at 224.

The total number of vaccinations has reached 220,67,79,081 doses. The official death count stands at 5,33,321.
