Return of other state Malayalees to be delayed

New Delhi: It seems homecoming of Malayalee workers and students from other states to be delayed.  Because, the Centre told the states to ferry stranded people by bus, as well as stamping a no on train service, making long distance travel difficult.

States including Kerala appealed to the Centre to arrange trains for inter-state travel. However, the Centre denied the appeal of other states including Maharashtra, Bihar, and Rajasthan as well.

Plying bus means states have to bear the travel cost, whereas cost of train service will naturally be on the Centre.

Only two dozen people could be ferried at a time, with social distancing in force. But trains could carry hundreds at a time. The rush to board the bus could lead to brawls.

Where buses could be plied to neighbor states, many states have workers from remote states.

Kerala has workers from states including West Bengal, Bihar, making their trip home via bus difficult.
