Kerala Wakf Board cautions against hurry to reopen mosques

Kochi: Kerala Wakf Board chairman AdvT K Hamza has said that the re-opening of Muslilms places of worship should be in full complilance with the guidelines set by the government.

He cautioned against any haste in opening mosques,  especially in urban areas where there is more likelihood of large gathering, and it would be difficult to abide by the restrictions.

He also pointed out the advice of Indian Medical Association (IMA) that if places of worship are opened,  it will increase the risk of virus spread.  Further the carpets in mosques will also quicken the virus spread,  and it would not be practicable for everyone to bring individual rugs and mats.

Therefore,  he appealed to devotees to bear with the current situation as far as possible.
