COVID 19: the state reports one death every four days

Kannur:  Kerala reports one death every four days from COVID 19. And twenty deaths have been reported as of June 16 after the first death 80 days since on March 28.

It took 65 days before the toll climbed to 10 after the first death. However in the past two weeks, toll has doubled.

75 percent of those died from infection were aged above 60 and 6 of those dead were above 70. Three of the dead were aged between 40 and 60; 2 were between the ages of 18 and 40.  Only three contact cases reported.

Highest death rate is reported in Thiruvananthpuram. Of 132 cases reported, 3.03 percent died from COVID 19 in the capital district.  

Where the state average in deaths is 0.76, Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram, Thirissur, Wayanad and Kannur reported way above it.

After confirming 57 cases Wayanad reported one death placing second in death rate at 1.75 per cent.

 Despite reporting 372 cases in the early stages, Kasargod stands out with no death. No death was reported from Idduki and Kottayam.
