Governor Arif Mohammad Khan refuses to sign ordinance on local bodies

Thiruvananthapuram: In a new development after CAA spat, Kerala governor Arif Mohammad Khan has reportedly refused to sign the ordinance to increase the number of members in local bodies.

In an interaction with the minister for Local Self-Government A C Moideen, the governor is learnt to have urged the government to take the matter for a debate in the assembly, and have it passed with the consent of the opposition.

Meanwhile, Oppostion leader Ramesh Chennithala had earlier in his letters to the governor expressed reservations as regards the ordinance, approved by the cabinet.

Subsequently, the governor forwarded the letters to the government, which in its turn submitted report to each letter.

It is learnt that minister AC Moideen may as well hold a meeting with CM regarding the matter, shortly.
