More evidences against DGP Loknath Behera come out

Thiruvananthapuram:  Further cornering an already beleaguered DGP, reports of more irregularities and violation of norms come out.

However, the home department threw its weight behind Behera validating everything committed against norms.

Madhyamam reported the other day of the government’s validating of the DGP’s order for bulletproof cars.

There followed the issue of purchase of Spectrum Analyser without first inviting tender.

Most of what happened in the last four years for modernization of police spending Rs 151 crore were in violation of norms, it is revealed.

The government blindly accepted the decisions that DGP had taken without prior permission; purchase of spectrum analyser and Signal hunter are examples to the point.

As for spectrum analyser and singal hunter, approval was given to procure them at Rs 26,30,429  from a Delhi based company, which however didn’t served the order.

Following this, an order was placed to the Bangalore based Convergence Technology without tender for Rs 27,95,038.

DGP sent a letter to the government for payment after instruments had been delivered.

Although convinced of the violation of norms, the government validated it by warning to maintain store purchase manual.

In a more serious step, the training spending centre 90 lakhs to be built at Pathanamthitta was shifted to Kochi without informing the government.

The govenemnt was informed only after the construction for the same was started in Kochi, which the government normalized.
