Thiruvanathapuram:  In an extraordinary situation, existence of humans and society takes precedence over individuals’ privacy, said CPM state secretariat.

The press release after the extraordinary state meet said as much and further as follows.

The government has the responsibility to go any length in such situations, to save lives. The laws in force grant the government powers to do the same.

Individuals’ information is drawn for precautionary measures, thus preventing the spread of the disease.

After establishing normalcy, the decisions taken at this point would be reviewed and use them for future course of actions.

India doesn’t have any data protection laws, except those added to IT laws.

The agreement has been made in compliance with these laws.

In a nation where freedom of travel is part of fundament right has now curtailed it because of extraordinary situation.

As COVID-19 threat continues, newer measures would be needed to strengthen the existing ones.

For this, service of professionals and technicians would be needed.

Opposition’s base allegations are aimed at weakening the unity beyond partisan politics, and also mar the government’s image.

The meeting also blamed a section of the media for spreading lies.

Secretariat threw its weight behind all measures taken by the government to fight COVID-19.

The CPM’s stand in the issue shows the party is still in thrall to the chief minister.
