Sangh parivar want Seva Bharathi to widen its operation

Palakkad: Sangh parivar has directed Seva Bharathi, a volunteer service wing under its umbrella , to widen its operation to panchayat level. An action plan in this regard was prepared at a state representative meeting held at Kochi recently.

Sangh Parivar assesses that minority organisations have influenced the Kerala society mainly through their relief and service activities. These organisations were in the forefront in the rescue activities during last two floods too.

CPM benefits from government mechanism for relief activities. Though Seva Bharathi's presence is fair in other states, the role of the Sangh Parivar organisations in relief activities in Kerala is limited. Though the organisation tried to ensure their volunteer presence in the relief activities in Puthumala and Kavalappara, which were hit by major landslides, lack of expert training proved a handicap. To overcome this, all the volunteers will be given expert training. A disaster management training centre will also be opened in Alappuzha soon.

Seva Bharathi also plans to undertake activities related to water, environment, organic farming, cleaning and others.  Apart from relief activities, welfare and construction activities will be started at panchayat level.   To this end, government schemes will be utilised to their maximum. The organisation also plans to bring more women into the activities.
