Agnivesh heckled at a function in capital

Thiruvananthapuram:  A group of people, allegedly identified as right wing, blocked activist Swami Agnivesh from addressing a function at Poojappura here on Wednesday.

He was about to speak at the function organized by Vaidya Mahasabha when, reportedly, the secretary of the temple trust heckled him. He was joined by a few others, leading to noisy situation at the venue.

Agnivesh chose to leave the venue, much as a police officer on duty at the venue offered him protection.

The organizers initially wanted former Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan to inaugurate the event and as he was not available, they invited Swami Agnivesh. However, police said that no case has been registered as regards the incident.
