CPIM leader Simon Britto passes away

Thrissur: Iconic communist leader and author Simon Britto passed away at a private hospital here on Monday night. He was 64.

One of the ailing victims of violent campus politics, Simon Britto spent whole his life in wheel-chair after he had been stabbed by rivals in 1983 when he was leading Students Federation of India.

Born in 1954 to Nichlos Rodriguez and Irin Rodriguez in Ernakulum district, Britto was a nominated Anglo-Indian member in the Kerala Legislative Assembly between 2006 and 2011.

Britto authored two novels Agragami and Maharandram earning much critical acclaim.

He was survived by wife Seena Bhaskar and daughter Kayeenila.
