Twin murder: Govt fears setback as victim's father demands CBI probe

Kasargode: The LDF government fears huge political setback as both victims' fathers in the twin murder case of Kasargode urged a CBI probe.  Parents of Sarath Lal and Kripesh, Satyanarayanan and Krishnan respectively repeated their demand for CBI probe.

Krishnan said that if government does not bend for CBI probe, he would approach High Court for the same. He also said that Peethambaran, who was arrested in the wake of the murder, alone could not have committed the murder,  and that the party's district leadership could not claim ignorance about the murder.

Real culprits behind the murder are still at large. Peethambaran is one of the close aides of K Kunhiraman MLA. CPM worker Valsalan and quarry owner Shastha Gangadharan were aware of the murder. Krishnan urged the government to probe their roles also behind the murder.

It is unconvincing to claim that the criminals used the weapons collected by the investigating team for the crime. The collected weapons were rusted.  The murder was committed after a conspiracy that started several months ago, Krishnan alleged.

Meanwhile, as CPM is struggling to disown its role in the murder, the government is still trying hard to get rid of anxieties over the credibility of the ongoing investigation into the case.

The denial of LDF convenor over the visit of revenue minister to the victims' family on behalf of the government has revealed the split inside the government which has gone on the defensive after the incident.

Chief Minister who is handling the home ministry, will suffer huge setback if this case too is left for CBI investigation. As there is no leader strong enough to question CPM and chief minister, unity of the LDF is for the time being safe.  CPI, who once pretended as a 'correction factor', also does not want to raise a voice of discord as parliament elections are near.
