As the intensity of rains in Wayanad slightly reduced, shutters of both the dams- Banasura Sagar dam and Karappuzha dam- were lowered, according to dam safety officials here.
While the shutters of Banasura Sagar dam were brought down to 30 cm, the three shutters of the Karappuzha dam were lowered to 15 cm, 20 cm and 20 cm.
The opening of Banasura Sagar dam spillway was reduced to 30 cm from 65 cm on Saturday morning.
One of its four shutters is fully closed now.
Karappuzha dam assistant engineer said that the shutters of the dam were opened by 30 cm on Friday and it was earlier decided to lower them fully.
However, the decision to close the shutters was changed later and the three shutters were lowered to 15 cm, 20 cm and 20 cm.
