Malayali CRPF jawan commits suicide in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: A CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) jawan hailing from Kerala allegedly shot himself dead in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Bastar district Friday, a CRPF official said.

Head Constable Biju CR (43) of 204th CoBRA battalion – a specialised unit of the Central Reserve Police Force — ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle at around 2.30 pm at the battalion’s headquarters in Jagdalpur town.

When Biju’s colleagues heard the gunshot they rushed to his barrack and found him lying in a pool of blood, the official told PTI.

He was declared brought dead at a local hospital.

The reason for the suicide was yet to be ascertained.
