Venue of communal harmony meet in Kochi shifted due to security threats

Kochi: The venue of a communal harmony meet organised by the Jama’ate Islami Hind, which was to be held at a hall near the High Court junction, was shifted to St Albert's College on Thursday due to security threats.

The function, however, held smoothly as per the schedule amid tight security at the new venue. Activist Rahul Easwar, who was supposed to participate in the communal harmony meet, was stopped by the Kochi Police.

The police sources say that the venue was shifted as there were security threats from some groups who had opposed activist Rahul Easwar’s participation at the event.

People representing all religions and religious organisations were supposed to participate at the event.

The event was organised as part of the Peace and Humanity campaign of Jama’ate Islami Hind.
