Political violence: BJP demands probe by sitting HC judge

Kannur: BJP National General Secretary Bhoopendra Yadav Saturday demanded a sitting that a High Court judge conduct an independent probe into the "increased political violence" in the district, which has seen party workers getting killed in alleged attacks by CPI(M) workers.

"A sitting judge of the High Court should conduct an independent probe into the increased political violence in this northern district," he told reporters.

Yadav also demanded that central forces be deployed in the trouble torn areas of the district. The BJP leader is heading a a delegation of BJP MPs, which today visited the residences of BJP workers killed and injured in alleged attacks by CPI(M) activists in the district.

Party state president Kummanam Rajasekharan alleged that there has been an increase in attacks against BJP workers after the CPI(M)-led LDF government came to power.

The delegation comprising Meenakshi Lekhi, Nandakumar Hegde, Nalinkumar Kateel and Richard Hey will be in Thiruvananthapuram tomorrow and will visit the BJP state office, where a country bomb was hurled on September 7, damaging the window panes.

The MPs would also meet Kerala Governor Justice (Retd) P Sathasivam and the home secretary. PTI COR UD APR APR ASV
