P.K Sreemathy breaks silence, says party was aware of appointments

Thiruvananthapuram: As the CPI-M is facing the heat over the appointment of the relatives in key posts of the public sector undertakings, P.K Sreemathy, MP, Sunday took to the social networking site Facebook to break her silence on the controversy.

Sreemathy, in a Facebook post, said she had appointed her daughter-in-law as her personal staff while serving as the state minister after getting clearance from the party.

She said the appointed was made after getting approval from Pinarayi Vijayan, who was party’s state secretary then.

“When the matter became a controversy, I kept mum to save the face of the party,” she said.

“This is not a lone instance where relatives of ministers and leaders are being appointed in key posts. But I was the only person who was target by the media,” she said.

She also added her daughter-in-law had never applied for pension as alleged by the opposition and others.
