Govt to move SC against HC order on Malaparamba school

Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister C. Raveendranath Saturday said the state government would approach the Supreme Court challenging the Kerala High Court order on closure of the Malaparamb Aided Upper Primary School in Kozhikode.

“The state government will approach the Supreme Court challenging the move to close down the Malaparamb and Kinaloor schools,” the minister told reporters.

On Friday, the High Court had given time till June 8 to the state government to close down the Malaparamba Aided Upper Primary School at Malaparamba in Kozhikode.

“The government should provide all assistance to the Education department officials to execute the court order allowing its closure,” the court said.

The Kerala High Court had passed an order a few months ago, favouring the management of the school and subsequently the DPI had issued an order for closure of the school last month.

The school protection committee members have been agitating for continuance of the school.
