Jiji Thomson appointed advisor to Chief Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: Jiji Thomson, who is due to retire on February 28, has been appointed as the advisor to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy with status of cabinet minister. 

Though there was speculation that the government might seek an extension for Jiji Thomson, the Special Cabinet which met on February 15 had decided to appoint P.K. Mohanty as the new Chief Secretary.

Thomson, a 1980 batch IAS officer of Kerala cadre, had worked as Director General, Sports Authority of India under Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports before assuming the charge of the chief secretary.
