C K Janu floats her own party

Cherthala: Amidst reports of her contesting the state polls as the candidate of BDJS, Adivasi Gothra Maha Sabha (AGMS) chairperson C K Janu on Wednesday said she would form a political party of her own and contest the elections with the support of the NDA.

The party will be known as Janadhipathya Rashtriya Sabha.

Janu will contest as the NDA candidate from Sulthan Bathery Assembly constituency in the upcoming Assembly polls.

Talking to the media, Janu said her party would not be a part of BJP or BDJS.

The decision of Janu, the symbol of the land struggles of marginalised and deprived sections of society in Kerala for the past two decades, to contest as NDA candidate is a major breakthrough for the BJP to make inroads into activist politics which, till recently, had been an exclusive space of the Left parties, especially the CPI-M.
