Pinarayi alleges graft in Vizhinjam project

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan Saturday alleged that there was corruption to the tune of Rs. 6,000 crore in the award of tender to the Adani group in the Vizhinjam project.

Pinarayi, in a Facebook post, said that there was a large-scale conspiracy involving Chief Minister Oommen Chandy behind the project.

“The reports of Chandy calling Gautam Adani over phone and meeting him at the residence of an MP in Delhi March 3, 2015, prove this,” said Pinarayi.

"The project is estimated to finish at a total of Rs 2,400 crore. Of this, Rs 1,600 crore can be taken as loans from financial enterprises in public sector. The government has to accumulate the remaining Rs 800 crore. But instead of this, the government is handing over land worth Rs 6,000 to Adani Group. This is part of a big conspiracy," he said.
