New Delhi: Two Malayali medical professionals, Dr Deepak Thomas and Dr A S Irshad, who remained untraced until Tuesday following the devastating earthquake in Nepal, have been declared dead.
Practitioners at Edava Primary Health Centre in Wayanad, Irshad (26) from Aanabagilu in Kasargod district and Deepak (25) of Kelakam in Kannur were on a trip to Nepal along with another friend, Dr. Abin Suri, when the earthquake hit the country.
The bodies of Irshad and Deepak have been identified by their relatives.
Meanwhile, Dr Suri, who is under treatment in Tribhuvan Hospital in Nepal, will be airlifted to Delhi by Tuesday evening.
The trio were at the Budget Multiplex Hotel in Kathmandu at the time of the Earthquake. Although Dr Suri was rescued, the other two remained untraced until Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Suri's mother told the media in Kerala that she managed to speak to her son who is currently in a hospital in Nepal. She said he underwent dialysis after doctors said his renal condition was not good.
The devastating quake that struck Nepal on Saturday has left over 4000 people dead and thousands of others injured.
