New Delhi: A batch of 51 tourists from Kerala, who were stranded at Chitwan in quake-ravaged Nepal, reached Indian border at Sunauli on Monday.
“We have received the information that they are safe. They are on the way back home. They will stay at a hotel at Sunauli today and will board train from Gorakhpur tomorrow,” their relatives said.
The batch of tourists includes 27 women and two children.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today has said more than 100 Keralites, including tourists, are trapped in quake-hit Nepal.
In a Facebook post, he said state Minister K C Joseph has gone to Delhi to initiate steps to get the stranded persons back to Kerala.
"Cabinet Minister K C Joseph is in Delhi to coordinate the efforts of getting the affected persons back to Kerala,” Chandy said.
The Chief Minister also congratulated the Indian Army for their rescue effort.
"Indian Army's rescue mission in Nepal is commendable. I wish them all the best for their efforts in Nepal," he said.
