Yuva Morcha activist held for restaurant attack in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: An activist of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of BJP, has been held for his alleged involvement in vandalising a restaurant here claiming that "immoral activities" were going on from there.

Nived, a Yuva Morcha worker, was held from here Saturday morning.

The protesters attacked the restaurant, Downtown Cafe, on P T Usha Road Thursday alleging that it was promoting immoral activities. The attack came after a local channel aired certain video footage about the restaurant.

The glass panes, furniture, television sets and some other properties were damaged by the attackers.

A case was registered against around 15 activists of the outfit under section 143, 147, 148, 427 of the Indian Penal Code.

As per the police version, most of the accused persons are absconding.
