Mani write-up was of personal views, not of daily: Veekshanam

Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress mouthpiece Veekshanam daily on Monday made it clear that the article appeared in the daily on Friday showering criticism on Kerala Congress (M) chairman K M Mani was of the personal views of the writer and not of the daily.

“The article criticising Kerala Congress (M) chairman K.M Mani was the personal views of the writer. The views expressed on the write-up were neither of the newspaper nor of the Congress party,” Shooranad Rajasekharan, Managing Editor of Veekshanam daily, today said in a note appeared on the front of the daily.

It was the editorial page piece in Congress mouthpiece Veekshanam (on Friday) which has triggered the latest round of verbal brickbat between the coalition partners.

The article points to the Nair-Christian vote base of the Kerala Congress (M) and warns that the party’s association with the Left had only resulted in its emaciation, in the past.

Dubbing the KC(M) as an outfit of power hungry leaders, the piece alleges that it was this trait that had resulted in the innumerable splits the party had to pass through.

On Sunday, KPCC president V M Sudheeran had condemned the write-up appeared in the party mouth piece, saying that the article was not published with the knowledge of the party leadership.
