Changaramkulam (Malappuram): In yet another incident revealing the addiction of youth towards online games, it has been reported that an 11-year-old from Malappuram has recharged for 28,000 rupees to play online games. The incident has shaken both the police and locals.
It was while investigating the frequent theft of a large sum of money from the household when the truth came into the light about the 11-year-old recharging their mobile at high rates. The parents of the boy soon went to the mobile shop and yelled at the employee. This led to a huge gathering in front of the shop and once the commotion escalated, Changaramkulam police led by CI Sajeev, SI Anto and Vijayan had to reach the scene to calm the situation.
According to the officials, the11-year-old was sneaking money from the house over the past four months and had been constantly recharging from a nearby mobile shop with the help of his friends. They had tricked the employee into believing that the large sum of money which was used to recharge for playing online games was shared among ten to fifteen children and that they all played the game together.
The family alleges that around 1.5 lakh had been missing from the house.
Police said that the children are often seen involved in such crimes and warned families to be vigilant. They have also asked the mobile shop employees to alert them if young kids visit the shops to recharge in a huge amount come into their notice.
