Myanmar president seeks change of Suu Kyi's portfolios

Nay Pyi Taw: Myanmar new President U Htin Kyaw on Monday submitted a proposal to union parliament for changing two out of four portfolios held by Aung San Suu Kyi.

U Htin Kyaw nominated U Myo Thein Gyi as the education minister and U Pe Zin Tun as minister of electric power and energy to replace two of Aung San Suu Kyi's portfolios, Xinhua reported.

Aung San Suu Kyi's first two portfolios, minister of foreign affairs and minister of president's office, remained unchanged.

U Myo Thein Gyi was director-general of the education ministry, while U Pe Zin Tun was secretariat of the ministry of electric power.

The president also sought approval for appointment of U Tun Tun Oo as attorney-general and U Maw Than as auditor-general.

U Tun Tun Oo was deputy attorney-general in the previous government, while U Maw Than is a retired rector of Institute of Economics.

The parliament set Tuesday for adoption of all the appointment if there is no objection till Monday 6.00 p.m.
