Islamabad: Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir sent a strong message to the former PM Imran Khan’s party that attack on military installations will not be allowed again at any cost.
During his visit to Sialkot Garrison, Asim Munir called the violence on May 9 as "planned and orchestrated tragic incidents".
‘No one will be allowed to disrespect our martyrs and their monuments. They are a source of inspiration and pride for the rank and file of the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies, Government officials and the people of Pakistan,’ he was quoted by ARY News as saying.
Munir laid a floral wreath at Martyrs' Monument, paying tribute to martyrs who ‘sacrificed their lives for the nation’s pride, honor and dignity’, the report said citing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Adding further, he said that Pakistan and its Armed Forces will hold in high esteem the ‘supreme sacrifices’ of those killed for the country.
The army chief said that those responsible for ‘bringing shame to the nation’ on May 9 will be brought to justice.
‘The armed forces will not tolerate any further attempt of violating the sanctity and security of its installations or vandalism and resolved to bring to justice all the planners, abettors, instigators and "executors of vandalism on the Black Day of 9th May,’ the army chief was quoted as saying.
