India's Covid chart showed improvement today, with the country recording 27,409 cases, a drop of 19.6 per cent from yesterday. About 347 deaths were recorded during the period, according to the Health Ministry.
After a month-long surge in Covid cases, led by the highly contagious Omicron variant, have been steadily declining in most Indian states.
The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 8,989 cases, followed by Mizoram with 2,022 cases, Maharashtra with 1,966 cases, Madhya Pradesh with 1,760 cases and Tamil Nadu with 1,634 cases.
As many as 59.73 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 32.8 per cent of the new cases.
Meanwhile, the National Health Authority (NHA) has collaborated with various ministries implementing welfare schemes to strengthen the different aspects Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).
India's recovery rate now stands at 97.82 per cent. In the last 24 hours, the active cases declined by 55,755 bringing the total active caseload at 4,23,127.
Active cases now account for 0.99 per cent of the total infections in India.
India's daily positivity rate has dropped from 3.19 per cent to 2.23 per cent. The weekly positivity rate stands at 3.63%.
India has administered a total of 44,68,365 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,73,42,62,440.
A total of 12,29,536 Covid tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
More than 12.14 crore balance and unutilised Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states and union territories to be administered, according to the health ministry as of Tuesday morning.
