Bhopal: The Vyapam scam whistleblower Dr Anand Rai has got arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police in Delhi on Friday. The arrest was made after a case was filed by an officer in the state Chief Minister's Secretariat in Bhopal, PTI reported, citing an official.
Bhopal Crime Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police Shivpal Singh Kushwaha told PTI that Rai was arrested from Delhi shortly after Thursday midnight. Rai is being brought to Bhopal, he added.
Meanwhile, people close to Rai said that he went to Delhi to approach Supreme Court for relief in the case against him. The Madhya Pradesh High Court had rejected Rai's petition, which sought the court to quash the FIR against him.
In March, deputy secretary to the CM Laxman Singh Markam had filed a complaint against Rai and the Congress chief spokesperson KK Mishra, stating that the duo has been dragging Laxman's name in the controversy on the alleged leak of a question paper of MP Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET)-2022 held on March 25. Markam alleged that the duo attempted to tarnish his image.
The screenshot of the leaked question paper in the exam conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Karmachari Chayan Aayog (Staff Selection Board), earlier known as Vyavsayik Pareeksha Mandal (Vyapam), has gone viral on social media, and Laxman's name was visible in it.
The Vyapam scam came into the limelight in 2011, and CBI took the investigation over in 2015.
