Viral reel exposes 1.5-month delay for death certificate at GHMC Charminar office

Hyderabad: A viral Instagram reel has highlighted alleged bureaucratic delays at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Zonal Commissioner’s office in Charminar, where a young man claims he waited over 1.5 months for his grandfather’s death certificate.

In the reel, posted on April 18 by Instagram user Bunny (bunny_thebeast), the complainant stands outside the office building, explaining repeated visits yielded no progress. He needs the document for his brother’s college and accuses staff of frequent absences, prolonged waits, and unresponsiveness despite multiple pleas.

Bunny details further frustrations: officials dismissed his threat to complain with “Go do it”, then allegedly stalled his application over it. Inside the office, he shows documents and questions staff on GHMC’s full form, asking, “What’s the point of such a huge building?”

He also claims a late-evening enquiry visit the previous night turned hostile. Officials reportedly arrived at 8 pm, spoke rudely, and left after he briefly stepped out for 5–10 minutes, later citing his unavailability.

The reel has garnered over 12,100 likes, 409 comments, and 371 reshares. Viewers voiced support, with some alleging bribes are routine for such services. Many tagged GHMC and Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s accounts to amplify the issue.

GHMC has issued no response to the claims.
