Vijay heads to Delhi for CBI questioning in Karur stampede probe

Chennai: Actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay will fly to New Delhi this evening to face Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questioning over last year's deadly stampede at his Karur campaign rally.

The CBI summoned Vijay to its Delhi office for Sunday, March 15, as part of the probe into the September 27 incident that killed 41 people, including women and children, amid a surging crowd.

Sources say Vijay departs Chennai around 3 p.m. today. He previously appeared before CBI investigators in Delhi on January 12 and 19, answering queries on rally planning, crowd control, permissions, and organizer roles.

Vijay requested a March 10 deferral due to commitments and sought questioning in Chennai, but the CBI insisted on Delhi. He has committed to full cooperation.

The agency took over the case to scrutinize safety lapses at the event.
