Uttarkashi: Authorities said that forest fires are still raging in Uttarakhand, extending from the Uttarkashi district to the plains of the Yamunotri belt. Four days have passed since the fire broke out in the Mukhem range forests in Uttarkashi and the area next to Radi Top on the Yamunotri Highway.
The fire reached the labourers’ tents on the Yamuna banks by Tuesday. Forest officials report that they have not been effective in containing the fires in Uttarkashi's Mukhem Range and Barahat Range, the New Indian Express reported.
Since last Sunday, the fire has been growing. On Tuesday night, it got closer to the Badathi-Manera bypass road as it spread across the Mukhem Range.
A fire broke out in the Barahat Range woods close to Gufiara on Wednesday. Fifteen members of the forest department team were dispatched to tackle the fire as soon as they received the warning.
