UP will get better roads than the US before 2024: Nitin Gadkari

Lucknow: The Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced on Friday his plans to upgrade roads in Uttar Pradesh outshining those in the US before 2024.

While addressing the Indian Road Congress (IRC), Gadkari offered a project outlay of ₹ 8,000 crore to make this dream come true.

He said this was only the beginning, the whole film was yet to come, according to a report by Asian News International 

Gadkari, who was the chief guest at the 81 st session of IRC, said the Modi government is going to approve five lakh crore rupees for UP in the coming days.

The projects worth ₹ 8,000 crore are being handed out at present, which will cover Shahabad-Hardorh bypass, Shahjahanpur to Shahabad bypass, Moradabad-Thakurdwara- Kashipur bypass, Ghazipur-Ballia bypass, besides 13 ROBs, he said.

He was quoted as saying that there was no shortage of money with the government for making good roads.

Sources in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways reportedly said Gadkari urged all 'Vishwakarmas', the people behind the road projects, to increase the pace of integrated and sustainable infrastructure development in the country.

Alongside, he asked to them to ensure ecological preservation, technology, innovation, safety and quality construction of the roads.

Gadkari held a review meeting at Chief Minister's residence in Lucknow.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present.
